Today we were cleaning up some painting supplies at Carmen Bajo. Boys were playing soccer in the courtyard, and kicked the ball at the person carrying the paint box. They passed the ball back, but then dropped the box and some of the paint spilled.
Nancy saw it and said, “Well, let’s paint the floor. I’ll call Freedom.” In minutes they turned a paint spill into a work of art. Drips into dots, long spills into an arrow. And they did it so fast.
How many times do we make mistakes and hang our head? We aren’t enough. Or we are too messy. Or we did the very thing we said we wouldn’t do again? All these mistakes making a mess of our lives. And somehow God walks in and uses them for good. For our growth, or to help us relate to someone else enduring that struggle. Or maybe He uses our messes to show us how much we need Him, and to draw us close. I don’t think God looks at us and thinks, well, there is nothing I can do with that mess. He looks at us as works of art in progress, waiting to let an artist write the next step of our story.
Let’s trust the Creator with our messes and let Him turn us into something that gives Him glory.
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created.”
