It’s Monday and I’m flying back to Athens. By now the rest of my CCC teammates have safely arrived back in Atlanta and I miss their presence here.
Yesterday I got to experience church in Crete. The Anamnisi coffee shop was transformed into a place of worship where approximately 50 people attended. Bereket played guitar while he led us in both Greek and English songs, followed by communion. Then the children were invited up for a prayer and a blessing before being sent to Sunday school.
Ilias preached a message on faith and how we may steward this free gift from God.
- We are saved by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8
- We are justified by faith not works. Romans 4:5
- Do we have silent faith or spoken faith? When faith is spoken it brings light into darkness.
- Faith without works is dead. Your works show what you believe and love. Do your work out of your love for God. James 2:26.
- Do you have faith without doubt? Keep your eyes on Jesus. Matthew14:31
- Do you have faith that hesitates or faith without limits to believe all things are possible? Mark 9:23
- Connect your faith to God’s promises by believing that He who promises is able to do all things. Hebrews 11:11
Of course, no church gathering would be complete without food and yes they do have potlucks in Greece! So we had lunch together and a time of fellowship.
After a stroll through the old city of Chania once more, Ilias and Nelly graciously hosted us for our last evening in Crete.
It has been such a blessing for me to be part of a CCC mission team again. As I remain in Greece for two more weeks to serve with Hellenic Ministries, my teammates are back home where their re-entry back to the U.S. begins. Take time to listen to their stories as they share all that God has done and process what and how this experience has impacted their life and faith.
Thank you all for your precious support and prayers for our journey to Greece
