Our last day in Kenya ended in a fitting way. We spent the morning at Glory Outreach Assembly headquarters with most of the staff. We heard what areas each of them work in and shared some of our observations from the week. This staff of 14 is the engine that drives the entire GOA machine of 250+ churches in 7 or 8 countries and 8 children’s homes across Kenya. They train leaders in even more countries and help build peace between tribes and the government. They are working on ways to become more self-sustainable so if a day comes when outside countries cannot contribute, their work can still continue. They are training pastors and mentoring children that leave the children’s homes and move on to university or trade schools. It was so encouraging to hear about their work, and see so many young people passionate about their area, and working in their place of strength.
We shared a meal together, and I loved seeing how quickly we connected and developed friendships. All brothers and sisters in the Lord, all working toward the same goal.
A late flight begins our trip back to Atlanta today, but these friendships and all the people we met during these 8 days will stay with us for always. Praise the Lord for technology, and the huge amount of WhatsApp numbers that were exchanged. But the stories we heard and the children’s hands that we held are tucked away deep down.
As the Lord brings GOA to your mind, please pray for the pastors in urban areas and in remote. Pray for the children in the homes whose families cannot care for them. Pray for the house parents and staff trying to give these children a chance at a great life and the sharing the Lord with them. Pray for the GOA staff who work tirelessly to make Jesus’ name known, and pray for Kenyans to become fully devoted Christ followers.
We land in Atlanta around 2pm, and we can’t thank you enough for your prayer support this week! Hopefully more stories from our trip will continue to come and will be an encouragement to you. God Bless You!
